Admission Policy and Procedure

G.D. Goenka Public School, Kolkata, established under the aegis of the G.D. Goenka Group, New Delhi, will pan out to be affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education and offer the curriculum and syllabus prescribed by CBSE. Admission at G.D. Goenka Public School Kolkata will be on a first-come, first-served basis. The following are the simple guidelines and procedures to be followed while admitting your child at G.D. Goenka Public School Kolkata.

Registration Form and Prospectus:

Offline registration can be done by obtaining the registration form from the school office during working hours, 8:30 AM - 1:30 PM (Monday – Saturday).

Online registration can also be done through the school website.

The Admission procedure will be intimated to the parents of the selected candidates. It is mandatory for both the parents and local / legal guardian to be present to complete various admission formalities.

Submission of Registration Form and Admission Form:

Registration Form and Admission Form duly filled in should be submitted at the school office within 2/3 days of collecting them. Photocopies of the following documents should be enclosed with the filled-up registration and admission forms.

Birth Certificate from the Municipal Corporation/any other competent authority.

Proof of Residence (any two of the following): Passport/Voter I.D./Driving License/Electricity Bill/Telephone Bill/Aadhaar Card.

Proof of sibling: Student ID card of sibling studying in the school.

Child with special needs: Medical Certificate.

Single Parent: Death Certificate of Husband/Wife/Separation Papers/Adoption Papers.

School Leaving Certificate /Transfer Certificate (if applicable).

Marksheet / Report Card of last attended school (last 2 years).

8 passport-size photographs of the Student & 4 passport-size photographs each of Father, Mother and Escort.

Medical Form duly filled in and signed.

Transportation form duly filled in.

Blood Group Report.

Parents’ ID Proof. (Aadhaar Card/Passport).

Income Proof - Salary Slip, IT Return.

Student’s Aadhaar Card.

Proof of qualification (Father & Mother).

Copy of Community Certificate. (If any).

Without these documents, the form will be deemed incomplete and shall not be accepted. Kindly avoid time extension requests for submitting documents. Duly filled forms should be submitted within 2/3 days of collecting them. Please do not use whitener or rewrite while filling the forms.

Admission

Once your registration is complete, the admission process will begin. The aptitude test and interaction will either confirm this or lead to further assessment.

Please note that submission of registration form doesn’t guarantee admission.

All documents and information provided shall be subject to verification of authenticity. The school possesses absolute authority to cancel/reject such admission if incorrect or false information is found.

Aptitude Test and Other Processes

For entry to class 1 and upwards, children are required to take a written aptitude test. This will reflect as to what is expected from a child at the end of the preceding school year, though those seeking admission during the final term will be assessed using learning objectives from the current year of study.

Those seeking admission to classes I to V will be assessed on their skills in using English, Mathematics and EVS.

Those seeking admission to class VI and above will be assessed on English, Mathematics, Science and Social Science.

The School Admission Counsellor or such authorised person shall meet students personally and discuss their interests and academic progress with them. This process is for those who have found the aptitude tests difficult. This process is to place the student in the appropriate class. Also, if required the Admission Committee will meet both parents as a part of this procedure.

Admission Criteria: Admission is based on a first-come-first-served basis for the Balvatika section and on the performance in the written tests for grades 1 to 7. However, admission shall primarily depend on the availability of seats.

Withdrawal: School Leaving Certificate will be issued in the month of March after all the dues have been cleared, for which the TC application to be submitted in the prescribed format in the month of January of the same year.

Special Instructions and Guidelines for School Transport

Duly filled-in transport application should be submitted to the school office.

School bus to your locality will be provided depending on the response only.

If the school is not able to provide the transport facility for any reason, the concerned parent should take responsibility for their child’s commuting to school and back.

School fees do not include the transport fees.

Transport fee should be paid along with respective quarterly tuition fee.

Grant of transport facility will depend upon the number of students availing the school transport in that route.

School transport system will be supported by a GPS tracking system.

Please refer to the school brochure for rules and regulations governing the school transport system.

Under no circumstances are students allowed to go behind or under the parked buses within the school campus. Students are also not allowed to sit in the parked buses during school hours.

A student using the school bus is expected to be at the bus stop at least ten minutes before the scheduled arrival of the bus. The student has to be on the correct side of the arriving bus. The scheduled pick-up time is available with the Transport-in-charge of the school. The school reserves the right to alter the timings, routes, and stops as and when necessary.

Students are issued a Bus Boarding Card (Class 2 to 6) with Bus Route No. The Card should be worn by the student before boarding the bus and the same should be worn at all times till the end of the return journey.

If any parent, whose child is availing school transport service, wishes to take their ward privately in his/her own transport, he/she has to collect the Permission Slip from the school authorities half an hour before the end of the last class.

Students are allowed to use only the allotted bus and bus stop. No change can be allowed without prior, written permission of the school.

The school will not be held responsible for any lapse in the bus services. In case of any discrepancy, parents may meet the Transport-in-charge.
